YAGNI is an acronym for “You ain’t gonna need it“. This is the common name for a programming principle that states that functionality shouldn’t be added to code until it is actually required. It was popularised by Kent Beck’s Extreme Programming, but has become a recognised best-practice in other programming methodologies.
